Kevin Xiyi Yao graduated with a B.A. and M.A. from the History Department of Nankai University, Tianjin, China in 1984 and 1987. In 1992 he was awarded a M.A. in Theological Studies by the Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminaries in Indiana, U.S.A. In 2000 he earned a Doctor of Theology from Boston University School of Theology. In the late 1980s, he worked at the Institute of World Religions, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. From 2003 to 2011 he taught at the China Graduate School of Theology, Hong Kong. Currently, he is Associate Professor of World Christianity and Asian Study at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He is the author of The Fundamentalist Movement among Protestant Missionaries in China, 1920-1937 (Lanham, Maryland: University Press of America, 2003).
