Cole Carnesecca

Research Associate

Originally hailing from southern California, Cole received his B.A. from Yale University studying History and East Asian Studies, both with focuses on modern China. After graduating, Cole time spent both in mainland China and Taiwan studying the Chinese language and becoming immersed in Chinese culture. Cole joined the Global China Center in the summer of 2008. Cole is currently at the University of Notre Dame working toward a Ph.D. in sociology.

Cole's academic interests include the formation of congregational life and the interaction between congregations and society, Chinese Christian intellectuals, social ethics, the creation of social and cultural meaning and the church as a context for the development of civil society.
